Pommery Forever.

‘Not a birth, but a dream. Under the blue sky of Reims, we were dazzled to see, for the first time, Madame Pommery's work. It is an extraordinary work of architecture, a testament to a fascinating story rich with passion. Driven by the same passion, we are charged with carrying on this story, and we are taking Pommery into the 21st century. We have all the same innovations - seasonal champagnes, the POP line, Rosé Apanage, and the magical Clos Pompadour magnums...
The world as Pommery sees it is expanding, with plaques inaugurated by His Serene Highness Prince Albert of Monaco on 31 October 2008, President Wade of Senegal in 2003, and His Excellency Nambaryn Enkhbayar of Ulan Bator on 25 February 2007.
We added new art works, such as a magnificent neon by Laurent Grasso, a chair by Philippe Ramette, the Fatbat by Virginie Barré in the cellars, and an exceptional bas-relief by Daniel Buren... The Expériences Pommery are a great success, with more than 135,000 visitors each year. The world of Pommery is one of emotion and joy, but it is also a real company, one that is serene and strong, embarking on its third century of existence just as full of ideas and desires as on the very first day. Our dreams are above all your dreams. ’

October 2016 - october 2017 : Expérience Pommery #13 : Gigantesque

24/10

"The human body is composed of, approximately, 60000 billion cells that each shelter DNA molecules so close, tight and folded together that, if unfolded, their total length would be equivalent to three million times the Earth’s circumference.

We are gigantesque! The gigantesque belongs to the domain of feats and great achievements, of challenging what is possible; it partakes of the fabulous. And it is gigantesque the infinitely tiny, such as the DNA molecules, and the infinitely big, such as the Domaine Pommery with its monumental Elizabethan castle or “chateau”, its cathedral caves and cellars buried some 30 metres deep under the ground, spreading in a vertiginous maze 18 kilometres long.

Playing with the architecture of this estate, the Gigantesque! exhibition seeks to showcase the excess and extravagance of today’s artists: ideas and research that partake of the colossal, but, at the same time, of the unbelievably tiny, the miniscule. Defying all norms. Out of scale. The gigantesque is the unbridled imagination, the exceeding of all measure. For the artists, gigantesque is the desire, the new energies, the challenge to create and invent new utopias. Gigantesque, like art and the immensity of the human being."
