The Domaine Vranken-Pommery has welcomed visitors since 1878.

The Domaine Pommery opens the doors of its magnificent buildings in the Elizabethan style and invites you to discover its cellars and crayères (chalk pits), inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List

Veritable underground cathedrals dating back to the Gallo-Roman period, some of them boasting monumental bas reliefs sculpted in the chalk. An exceptional tour at 30 metres below ground, where you can also admire the works of art of the latest contemporary art exhibition.

The Gallo-Roman crayères,
the brilliant idea of Madame Pommery

Exploited in the Gallo-Roman tradition for the buildings of the city and then essentially for the ramparts, the crayères of the medieval era of the St Nicaise hill were abandoned when stone and bricks replaced chalk. They were then turned into areas of shelter or exclusion and only occasional collapses were reminiscent of them.

The brilliant idea of Madame Pommery consisted in interconnecting these huge pits by galleries and using the existing backfills to level the future cellar at less than 30 metres of depth, offering ideal conditions with a constant temperature at 10 degrees and humidity at 98% throughout the year. More than 60 chalk pits are interlinked in this way by more than 18 kilometres of galleries.

The tradition initiated by Madame Pommery consists in giving these galleries the name of all the metropolises of the universe when they are conquered by Pommery.

Contemporary art 30 metres below ground

From the 19th century onwards, the love of arts and the perceptive policy of Madame Pommery were characterised by key strengths:
The building of the Domaine Pommery in Reims, the invention of Champagne Brut in 1874 but also the immoderate support of art.

Since 2002, Pommery has revived this tradition and created a new mode of expression for artists by opening the doors of its estate and its Gallo-Roman chalk pits. As a unique and history-laden subterranean place of encounter, the crayères welcome the artists of today from all over the world who open an artistic bracket under the direction of curators with a constantly renewed creativity.

The Villa Demoiselle
A gem of Art Nouveau

An architectural gem dating back to the beginning of the 20th century, the Villa Demoiselle has been imbued with fresh splendour thanks to the passion of its owners, Paul-François and Nathalie Vranken, after it had been left and abandoned for many years

The property is a unique expression of close co-operation between architects, cabinet makers and decorators united by the same inspiration, between Art Nouveau and Art Deco.

Arts and Crafts,
the incredible history
of the Villa Demoiselle

Discover the incredible history of this unique residence which had been abandoned for a long time. Drawing on documents from historical archives, a team of contractors worked for almost four years on the refurbishment of the entire building.

Thanks to their know-how, these artisans have revived the splendour of the mural decorations drawn with a pencil, revealed again the floral and geometric motifs of the stained-glass windows. Today, the Villa Demoiselle boasts an amazing collection signed by the greatest artists of the Art Nouveau era with major works by Majorelle, Serrurier-Bovy, Selmersheim, Daum, Gallé, to mention only those… Its benefactors want this property to be the most beautiful ambassadress of the master know-hows.

The Master Class,
private tasting workshop

The Master Class will offer you the keys to the making of the Pommery champagnes. Together with a sommelier you will taste the legendary cuvées of Maison Pommery: Pommery Apanage Brut, Pommery Grand Cru Royal Vintage and Cuvée Louise Vintage.
